Our Partners and Strategy
Partnership is at the core of what we do and who we are as a Foundation. We are driven by our vision; to build a powerful workforce of skilled scientists and industry leaders in Africa who can contribute to the Africa’s sustainable development. We view partnership as synergy – the whole being more than the sum of its parts. More reach, more impact, more innovation.
We work in partnership with world recognized Universities and Research Institutes around the world to offer quality scientific laboratory training, especially in the area of molecular biotechnology and applications in agriculture, biomedicine and the environment.
Since our inception, we have collaborated with the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA), Ibadan, Nigeria to hold intensive hands-on biotechnology laboratory training workshop for students and research professionals across six countries in the sub-Saharan Africa region. This program was supported by the National Biotechnology Development Agency (NABDA), Ministry of Science and Technology, Nigeria.
We partnered with the University of Cambridge’s Department of Plant Sciences in March 2017 to co-organise a Molecular Laboratory Training Workshop for Africa-based agricultural research scientists, academics and PhD students across 7 countries in East (Kenya and Uganda), West (Nigeria and Ghana), North (Morocco and Egypt) and South (South Africa) Africa. This workshop, as well as our inaugural African Diaspora Biotech Summit were held at the University of Cambridge from March-April 2017. Our sponsors include;
- Department of Plant Sciences, University of Cambridge
- Gates Cambridge Trust and Scholars Council, University of Cambridge (add logo)
- Trinity College, Cambridge University
- Cambridge Global Food Security Initiative
- BBSRC Global Challenge Research Fund (via the Cambridge University’s Bioimpact Team)
